Fitness review: Nike Training Club app doesn’t disappoint
There’s no denying it, it’s officially an online workout jungle out there! But I’ve got your back. In this guest review, we take a look at the Nike Training Club App and test run one of their cardio workouts that packs a punch.
Online training apps are the new norm and they’re likely to be around well past the COVID-19 pandemic.
As I rehab my way through my ACL knee injury, I’ve found online workouts to be an absolute godsend. They’re convenient, offer tons of variety and give you more stats that you can shake a stick at. But how do you wade through the plethora that’s out there?
That’s where I step in. The next three fitness reviews I’ll do will be taking a look under the hood at fitness training apps that you might want to give a go. And I’m starting with a guest review of the Nike Training Club.
Meet, Tiny T. She’s a sports enthusiast who loves her training and has signed up to play both baseball and soccer this year. Like a lot of us, Tina was uber active in her younger years, but adulting has seen a large chunk of time now become absorbed by work, and unfortunately the sedentary life that goes with it.
Not being one to sit on her *ahem* backside, Tina made a commitment three years ago to get back to living a happy and fulfilled life, where fitness plays a key role. Pre-COVID, her routine was jam packed with cardio and weights sessions. During the pandemic, it’s now virtual F45 sessions, online fitness app workouts and handstand practice, pullups and free weights thrown in as side challenges. She’s been smashing out her goals consistently and stands by the Nike Training Club app as a tool for keeping her motivated and shredded!

ATFG> What should someone expect?
Boxer Burner is a great all body cardio workout. It runs for 30 minutes and you can expect boxing style movements, boxing combinations, a good mix of upper body, lower body and ab exercises that will make you feel like you have done a full body workout. I think it’s also a pretty fun too.
To get you through your first Boxer Burn workout, I’ve got three helpful tips:
Count down in small increments – have you ever experienced that feeling where you could easily just talk yourself out of training? Here’s my secret… whether it’s a 20 minute workout, or a 30 minute workout, or a workout that only has 3 sets… I just tell myself… its only 3 reps! Or it’s only 20 minutes! The rule here is break it down to a number which makes it sound like a short and quick workout. Then to get in the zone, I jump on the spot for a couple of seconds to pump myself up to get in and get the job done.
Get your Spotify on – turn on some pumping tunes that will keep you motivated, because who doesn’t like to workout to some awesome beats? Be sure to set this up before you press play on your workout. You’ll want to have some really good tracks for Boxer Burn.
Workout at your own pace – go at your own pace and don’t forget to breathe. Try and push yourself but if you have 10 seconds left on the clock and you feel the tank is empty, don’t stop, just go slower and focus on your breathing. When you take slow deep breaths in and exhale out, this slows down your heart rate. And don’t forget to focus on slow breaths inbetween exercises.
ATFG > Would you recommend the Nike Training Club app to your friends?
Definitely would recommend it to my friends and family and everyone else! It’s one of the best fitness apps I’ve seen out there so far that is absolutely free, super easy to use and navigate through and there is a variety of workouts to suit all tastes.
ATFG > What do you like about the app?
Each workout comes with a visual and audio demo of the exercise before you perform each exercise, and the visual stays on screen all the way through to the end. The app also speaks throughout the workout to tell you what the next exercise is, how to do it, when to start and when to stop.
ATFG > What don’t you like about the app?
I’m not sure I have found anything I don’t like about this app, so if I had to pick one, to my knowledge you can’t pair it with a heart rate monitor or fitness tracker.
ATFG > What track was playing on your workout?
I’m an R&B girl so I pump old school R&B tunes during my workout. I had YG’s Left, Right playing on my track list.
